Roughfield Diamond Proposal, known as Holly, recently won the Novice section of the NZ Gun Dog Trials that were held in Onewhero over Labour weekend. She has been trialling since she was a puppy and has now won a puppy trial and three Novices as well as numerous placings in both Novice and Limit (the next class up from Novice). Gun dog trialling tests the retrieving skills of the dog as well as the handling skills of the handler and lots of fun hours are spent training and bonding with the dog. Holly gets to travel all over the country to attend trials and she absolutely loves it, as do I. If anyone is interested in getting involved in the sport, or has any questions, please feel free to ask Sue and Amanda for my contact details. I’ll be glad to answer any questions and point you in the direction of a club in your area.
